A FLORIST is upping sticks and moving shop after securing a prime spot in the centre of Matlock.
Robert Young Florists has been based off Bakewell Road, Darley Dale for many years, however when the former Tourist Information Office in Crown Square came up for sale it was too good an opportunity to pass up.
Robert said: “We saw the Fidler Taylor sign up outside the shop and we just went and made an offer, which was accepted.
“It was brilliant.
“It’s all about location, location, location.
“We’re looking forward to coming to Matlock.
“It’s a wonderful spot with lots of lovely shops around it like Peli Deli.”
He said he was hoping to bring some colour to Crown Square and has applied to the council to have an awning so that he can display flowers outside the shop.
Robert specialises in wedding flowers and will have been running his successful business for 30 years this year alongside his wife, Carole.
His daughter Rowena, 33, and twin children William and Emily, 26, will also be working for the shop.
“My youngest daughter Emily is working in the shop while working two days a week at Citron Vert hairdressers, in Dale Road,” he said.
“It’s a real family business.”
He said the economic downturn has affected his business, in particular he has had competition in recent years from supermarket selling flowers.
“We offer a personalised service here,” he explained.
“You can chose whatever you want.”
The new shop is due to open after Easter.
