YOUNGSTERS from Marlpool Infants School have been given a lesson on road safety.
Officers from Heanor Safer Neighbourhood Team went back to school to teach the children about road safety as part of national road safety week, with PCSO Becky Davis and PCSO Emma Baker meeting the youngsters.
Children from the reception class were taught about different types of crossings, the dangers of playing near roads and how to cross a road safely.
PCSO Becky Davis said: “It is important that the children are made aware of the dangers of playing near roads and the correct way to cross a road. Many children are knocked over and injured on the roads as a consequence of lack of awareness around road safety.
“The school have also given safety messages and hopefully we have helped to reinforce the message.”
