A primary school parent and teacher’s association is calling on local businesses to donate lots to an online charity auction –in a bid to raise cash for a set of new classroom computers.
Waingroves primary School PTA has been running a Facebook auction for the past four weeks and have so far raised £580
Prizes have included days out, football tours, swimming lessons and pantomime tickets - with ferry tickets and gym passes in the pipeline.
But the association aims to raise a further £1,000 to buy seven new machines for the school’s outdated IT suite and is calling on more businesses to donate lots for the auctions.
Organiser Ian Sharpe of Mill Lane, Codnor, said: “We are hoping for anything from a florist donating a bunch of flowers to a butcher giving a joint of meat. What we will do in return is put the web address of the company on the Facebook page to give them a bit of advertising.”
The charity auction has seen eight new lots placed on the Facebook group Waingroves Primary School PTA Auction at 9pm every Friday night.
Potential buyers can bid on the lots until 8pm the following Friday. Email the PTA on firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
