A former Heanor Gate Science College pupil is set to make history by being one of the first students to display a collection of luxury lingerie fashion items at Graduate Fashion Week on Monday.
Hannah Winfield, 21, who studied in Heanor for seven years, is one of a handful from the contour fashion course of De Montfort University to feature in this year’s show at Earls’ Court.
It will be the first time garments of the sort, including underwear, swimwear and corsetry, will feature at the show in Graduate Fashion week’s 22-year history.
Hannah, now of Breadsall, said: “I’m very excited but i also feel really lucky because not everyone from my year got the chance to do it.”
Hannah is hoping industry experts lining the catwalk at Earls Court will take a shine to her work, inspired by Parisian opulance and made using silk, lace and leather.
She said: “I graduate in July so I’m keeping my options open. Hopefully there will be some jobs come through from this!”
DMU will be making history at this year’s event as it is the first year, in the events 22-year history, that contour designs will be featured. We are the only university showing contour designs and are also the only university having two catwalk shows. The other show is for students studying fashion design and we have been showing designs from this course since 2007.
The contour fashion course specialises in lingerie, underwear, bodywear, swimwear, loungewear, nightwear, sportswear and corsetry and has been around for more than 65 years.
