Youngsters at Ironville and Codnor Park Primary School are helping to banish the bullies in a new initiative.
The school has launched an ‘Anti-Bullying Crew’, a group of pupils who listen and look out for their peers and let teachers know about any issues.
A design for the crew’s poster by Kain Bellamy, 11, was selected by PCSO Meikel Miller of the Ironville and Riddings Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team and printed by Motifs of Ilkeston.
Teacher Sarah Currie said: “I’m pleased to be able to say that we don’t have any serious issues with bullying, and that is partly because we have worked hard to promote an anti-bullying message throughout the school.”
PCSO Miller said: “The Anti-Bullying Crew provides pupils with support of their peers and teachers, but also aims to raise awareness and educate children about what bullying is and the hurtful effect it can have on others.”
