Dog and owner bitten in Ripley

Police are appealing for witnesses after a dog and its owner were bitten in Ripley.

A man was walking his greyhound on Pit Top playing fields off Peasehill when another dog ran over and started attacking his animal.

The dog bit the greyhound on its neck and chest. When the owner tried to pull it off it also bit him on his hand.

The dog was small, had dark brown fur and was wearing a leather collar. The dog's owner was described as white and aged between 20 and 30 with shoulder-length hair which was parted in the middle.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident - which happened at about 6am on Wednesday, March 2 - should call police on 101.
