A care team in Alfreton has been awarded a new silver dignity award, aimed at improving the way people are treated by social care and health services.
Leonard Cheshire staff, based at Green Gables on Wingfield Road, run a programme of regular topical debates that residents now take part in.
The sessions, which are hosted by a support worker, involve all residents and also include fun activities such as a quiz and competition.
They were one of seven teams recently presented with silver dignity award certificates at a ceremony held at County Hall in Matlock. Councillor Clare Neill said: “We are working hard with our NHS colleagues to try to improve services without increasing costs. This includes looking at how we do things and working to reduce waste and avoid duplication of services.”
The Derbyshire Dignity Campaign encourages professionals in the health and social care sector to test out the work of their teams against a ten-point National Dignity in Care Challenge.
