Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a shop in Riddings.

At around 6.20pm on Friday, June 28 two men entered Bains Supermarket, George Street, and climbed over the counter.

One of the men pushed the shop assistant out of the way and stole the cash drawer from the till before leaving the shop and driving off in a white car.

The offenders were both white men. One was over six feet tall, of a large build and wearing dark clothing and a balaclava. The second man was shorter and of medium build. He was wearing a dark hooded top with the hood pulled over his face and dark jogging bottoms. It is thought a third man was driving the car.

A white Kia Rio stolen during a burglary at a house in Temple Normanton on Monday, June 24 was recovered by police a short time later on Nottingham Lane, Ironville. It is believed this car was used in the robbery.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the robbery. He has been released on bail.
