Derbyshire woman appears at court accused of £30,000 fraud

A Derbyshire woman has appeared at court today accused of fraud amounting to almost £30,000 - including allegedly stealing from her own mum.

Zoe Marsh, 46, of Nottingham Road, Alfreton, pleaded not guilty to three charges of fraud by false representation and a charge of theft from a person at Chesterfield magistrates’ court on Thursday.

Prosecuting, John Cooper, said: “These are allegations that the defendant financially exploited her 79-year-old mother. The amount of money in question is thought to be going on for £30,000.”

It is alleged that between February 1 2007 and April 6 2017 at Shirebrook, Ms Marsh dishonestly made a false representation, namely opening accounts, had payments made into her account, intending to make a gain, namely goods, credit and cash, causing loss to Shirley Marsh.

It is also alleged that between February 1 2007 and April 6 2016 at Shirebrook, Ms Marsh stole cash, to a value unknown, also belonging to Shirley Marsh.

On September 30 2008 at Langwith Junction, it is alleged Ms Marsh committed fraud by dishonestly making a false representation, namely opening bank accounts in another person’s name.

And it is alleged on April 23 2014 at Langwith Junction, Ms Marsh committed fraud by dishonestly making a false representation, namely unauthorised use of a company credit card.

The case was adjourned until the next hearing at Derby Crown Court on May 18 and Marsh was given conditional bail.
