YOUNGSTERS at a Denby playgroup took part in their annual toddle-waddle last week to raise funds for Meningitis UK. The fun run took place at Alphabet Childminding Group in Denby.
Childminder Zoe Bennett said: “It’s basically a charity fun-run for the under fives.
“The children did one lap of the field.
“This is our fifth year running of holding the toddle-waddle.
“About 20 children took part.
“We are counting the money up this week and should have a total by Thursday”
This Tuesday the three main UK meningitis charities - Meningitis Research Foundation, Meningitis Trust and Meningitis UK - joined together to mark a world day of action. The charities are working to promote the message that meningitis and septicaemia kill more under-fives than any other infectious disease in this country and six families a week face the devastation of losing a loved-one.
The Confederation of Meningitis Organisations (CoMO) is encouraging families and communities to learn the signs and symptoms of meningitis.
