Schools across the county turned out for a lesson at Darley Dale’s Whitworth Centre in how to help bring about environmental change at Derbyshire County Council’s eco-schools conference.

Around 100 teachers attended – taking part in workshops about energy management, reducing food waste and improving school grounds for wildlife.

Derbyshire County Council cabinet member, Cllr John Allsop, said: “We have around 330 schools in Derbyshire that are already part of the eco-schools programme.

“It’s a great opportunity for schools to do their bit.”
