Special cop’s a life-saver

A RIPLEY lifeguard is among 13 Special Constables who have joined Derbyshire police.

Jack Pressland, 20, who works as a lifeguard at Ripley Leisure Centre, will serve in Clay Cross.

More than 70 friends and family gathered at police headquarters in Ripley, to see the new recruits sworn in at a special ceremony.

The event was attended by Assistant Chief Constable Dee Collins, senior police officers and representatives of Derbyshire Police Authority. All 13 read the oath of allegiance to Derbyshire Police Authority chairman Philip Hickson.
