Retail Crime Week is taking place across Derbyshire – highlighting the impact that offenders have on both large organisations and smaller independent businesses.

Officers across the Amber Valley have seized more than £10,000 worth of stolen goods in the last month – including large quantities of alcohol.

A Belper Safer Neighbourhood Team spokesperson said: “As an SNT covering the Amber Valley area, in the last month alone, we have dealt with over 15 suspects identified and caught in the act.

“The alarming figure of items which have been seized as a result of these shop thefts amounts to over £10,000.

“Items include huge amounts of alcohol, clothing, shoes, cleaning products and expensive food items such as coffee, cheese and fresh meat.”
