A man has been charged in connection with a robbery at a South Normanton petrol station

Just after 2am on Sunday (May 19) police were called to the Shell service station on Alfreton Road after a staff member reported a robbery.

A man approached the kiosk at around 2am and demanded money. The staff member refused and he left.

He returned a few minutes later carrying a black object and made further demands for cash, which was handed over by the staff member.

Officers are appealing for anyone who used the garage between 1.50am and 2.15am to contact them.

A 34-year-old man from Sutton-in-Ashfield has been charged on suspicion of robbery and remains in police custody.
