Police are warning people to be vigilant with their cash cards after an elderly woman was pickpocketed in Heanor.
The incident happened on Wednesday July 11, at around 4.45pm, in Tesco car park, where the 76-year-old woman was approached by two women.
One asked her directions to Coventry and pulled out a map, the other then greeted her like a long lost friend and kissed her on both cheeks. Both spoke with a foreign accent. When the women left, the victim discovered a cash card and diary containing the PIN had been taken. She went back home to cancel her cards and found that money had already been taken.
Police are urging police to keep purses and cards safe and to be alert when using cash machines.
