A GANG of “ruthless and clever” crooks pickpocketed an elderly man outside a Denby cash machine.
The incident happened at 11.40am on Wednesday, September 21, when a 77-year-old-man from Horsley Woodhouse went to the cash machine at the One Stop shop on Derby Road.
As he was getting cash out, he noticed two women and a man behind him - whom he thinks read his PIN number over his shoulder. When he was walking away one of the women and the man distracted him by asking directions to Nottingham and his cash card was stolen.
They withdrew cash from the machine. The victim said the trio spoke with eastern European accents and were all tanned.
One woman was described as slim and wearing a dark brown shirt, pale blue jeans and a black leather jacket. She wore her dark hair in a bob. The second woman wore a brown trouser suit. She had long brown hair tied in a bun. The man was said to be slim, with short dark hair. He was wearing a beige jacket and black trousers.
