A SOUTH Normanton motorist who flashed his lights at police to give them priority was followed and caught drink-driving.
A Subaru Impreza travelling along Nottingham Road, Ripley, at 2am on October 1, had right of way but indicated for the patrol car to go first. Becky Mahon, prosecuting, said officers stopped the car in Steam Mill Lane, where driver Lee Harris failed a roadside breath test. He was arrested and gave a reading of 68mcgs of alcohol - almost double the 35mcgs limit.
Harris, of Collins Avenue, South Normanton, admitted drink-driving and was fined £265, with £85 costs.
He received a 16-month driving ban that will be reduced to a year if he passes a drink-driving rehabilitation course.
