A SOUTH Normanton man with a drink problem landed himself in court when he hurled abuse at shop staff who would not sell him booze.

Christopher White was refused service at a Church Street store in the village at 1pm on August 25. He was abusive and threatened to cause damage in the shop and assault a staff member before leaving, Chesterfield magistrates were told.

He returned two hours later and continued being abusive. In-store security film showed him waving his arms around’, said Helen Griffiths, prosecuting.

White, 27, of The Croft, admitted using threatening or insulting words or behaviour and was fined £82, with £85 costs.

The court was told he had previous convictions for racially-aggravated threatening behaviour and being drunk and disorderly. White, unemployed, apologised for his behaviour and revealed he was going into rehab.
