The Deputy Chief Constable of Derbyshire Constabulary has thanked police staff who have helped to maintain the police service to local communities.
A total of 38 staff from a total of 1,000 took part in the industrial action.
DCC Alan Goodwin said: “Fully respecting the right of police staff to take strike action, we have been liaising closely with our Unison representatives to ensure that an appropriate level of response to emergencies and other calls for service continued unhampered yesterday.
“As we were unsure how many staff would decide to strike, it was entirely sensible for the Constabulary to make contingency plans to provide that level of service throughout the 24 hour period.”
“Yesterday was business as usual. The vast majority of our staff came to work and I’m particularly pleased that nearly 100 per cent of front line staff were there to provide visibility and reassurance to the communities of Derbyshire.
“I trust that the public will not have seen any change to the normal service we provide. “
