AN ELDERLY woman realised this weekend that two conmen she had let in her home earlier this month had stolen cheques.
The 79-year-old answered her door in Sunningdale Drive, Ilkeston, on Tuesday April 3 at about 3pm to two men, who said they had come to check her radiators.
The younger of the pair kept her talking in the lounge while the older man went upstairs.
After about 20 minutes, they left but it was not until this weekend that she realised cash was missing from her bank account
They had used cheques stolen from her cheque book to withdraw the money.
Both men were white, around 5ft 6ins tall and wore sleeveless high-visibility jackets. One was in his 30s, and of medium build. He had short dark hair. The other man was in his 60s and had a small grey moustache.
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
