Arrest made after stolen car is tracked down

Police have arrested a man after pursuing a Land Rover they believed to have been stolen.

Officers saw a suspicious Land Rover in Main Road, Stretton, Alfreton at around 12.25am today (Thursday, December 22) and tried to pull the driver over. He drove off through Teversal and Pleasley before stopping in a car park at Mill Street, Clowne.

The police helicopter was deployed to follow the vehicle from the air.

Officers arrested the man on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving and vehicle theft after identifying that the Land Rover was registered to an address in Spencer Road, Belper.

He remains in custody and is being questioned by officers.
