Credit union set to open

A CREDIT union for people in Amber Valley is to be opened next week in Ripley.

Amber Valley Housing Limited and Amber Valley CVS have joined forces with Erewash Credit Union to deliver the services in Amber Valley.

Chief executive of Amber Valley Centre for Voluntary Services, Lynn Allison, said: “We are looking forward to cutting the ribbon to mark the opening of the credit union service which is based in our CVS Offices on Ripley Market Place. We know the credit union will be a real asset to Amber Valley.”

Anyone living or working in Amber Valley or Erewash can become a member of the Credit Union and it costs just £2 to join. The credit union can offer small loans with low interest rates to those who may have been refused credit elsewhere or on a low wage or benefits.

The mayor of Ripley, councillor Angela Ward, has been invited to cut the ribbon.
