Ripley pupil Gage Strange beat hundreds of other youngsters to show off his artistic skills in a design competition.

Gage, a pupil at Waingroves Primary School, used his skills to design a colourful festive poster as part of a competition run by the society for youngsters throughout Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire.

Gage’s winning design was chosen from entries received from Leek United’s branch network – and was turned into a festive poster and displayed in all 12 branches over the Christmas period.

The nine-year-old was ecstatic at the win, and was presented with a framed copy of his design.

The poster included Santa, his sleigh, Rudolf the reindeer, colourful sacks of presents and a Christmas tree.

Clare Beardmore, Leek United’s marketing and products manager, said: “Gage’s poster was a lovely way helping us to wish all our customers a Merry Christmas.

“He certainly helped to send festive greetings out to thousands of Leek United customers, who we hope had a brilliant time.

“Gage should be very proud of himself and his talent, he’s a very creative young boy with a bright future ahead.”
