An EASTWOOD town councillor said the council should be ‘ashamed of itself’ for not organising anything for the Queen’s Jubilee, at a meeting this week.

Cllr Brian Griffin said the council has left it too late and he was ‘amazed’ that nothing had been organised.

Cllr Charlie Robb told the council he had looked into booking venues and entertainment such as fairground rides and everything was already booked up.

He said the council should ‘do it properly or not at all’ and said it was a ‘non starter’.

But councillors fought back saying they had to do something.

Cllr Griffin said: “It would be a poor reflection if we did nothing. I am amazed.”

Mayor Cllr Ken Woodhead said: “It’s disappointing and sad. There’s surely something we can do. Even if it’s something on Coronation Park for the kids.”
