ALFRETON Party in the Park has been awarded a £1,000 grant by a local councillor.
Councillor David Wilson chose the event as part of the County Council’s Community Leadership Fund, with the grant going towards the cost of this year’s event.
He said: “I am delighted to be able to again make a grant to the Party in the Park.”
The annual event, this year being held on the 4th of September, is organised by local residents and aims to showcase a wide range of Derbyshire’s attractions.
Liam Connell, a spokesperson for the event, said: “Our committee would like to take the opportunity to thank Councillor Wilson, the grant is a great boost to our organisation and is very welcome.
“The money will go towards funding the local talent who will be appearing in our main arena.”
Along with live music there will also be fun fairs, competitions, exhibitions and a host of other things to do for both adults and children.
Councillor Wilson added: “The party seems to grow each year with an ever increasing variety of attractions and stalls.
“I hope that you will all come along to this year’s event and like me, be proud of Alfreton.”
