Detectives in Heanor are appealing for witnesses after thieves used a car to rip a metal shutter off a shop front before stealing cigarettes.

At around 11.40pm on Saturday, August 31 a silver car, believed to be a Vauxhall Vectra, was seen to pull the shutter from the front of Spar on Derby Road. Three thieves dressed in dark clothing then smashed the glass door and stole cigarettes from inside the shop before getting back into the car and driving off.

A Vauxhall Vectra was found abandoned nearby on Ray Street shortly after the burglary. Witnesses told police they saw people get into another vehicle, possibly a Vauxhall Tigra or Puma.
