Cooking up a treat or two

Alfreton Inner Wheel.

ALFRETON Inner Wheel President Jean Stevenson welcomed everyone to the meeting and wished all a Happy New Year.

After dinner, Alfreton Rotarian Phil Millard gave a talk on ‘numbers’, illustrating how they played a large part in our lives.

For example numbers for National Insurance, Passport and Driving Licence etc.

The talk was followed by a quiz on numbers –just to see if we had been listening.

Member Chris Holroyd gave a vote of thanks.

President Jean then conducted the business meeting, reporting on the functions she had attended, mentioning the Joint Inner Wheel and Rotary Christmas ‘get together, two carol services at Alfreton Church and a carol concert at Swanwick, all most enjoyable. Members with birthdays in January were given birthday wishes.

Correspondence was read and reports given by officers. Notices were given for forthcoming events.

We celebrated Inner Wheel Day on January 10 at the home of member Margaret Day, where we knitted squares and trimmed stamps for Overseas Charities and chatted while other members cooked lunch. At our February meeting, the speaker was due to be Pat Paterson on ‘Poems’. We were due to donate towels for our monthly collection for the homeless.
