PEOPLE are invited to try their hand at traditional cottage industries in Ironville on Saturday as part of a nostalgic fundraising event.
Wool spinning and rug-pegging are just two of the activities which are taking place at an event in Ironville Parish Church on Saturday, May 19, entitled “When I Were A Lad.”
The church will be open from 10am until 4pm. People will be able to watch the ladies spinning wool – and have a go at it themselves, as well as trying their hand at pegging a rug. Church warden Michael Blount said: “There will be numerous ‘olde worlde’ displays, a variety of stalls, competitions and refreshments. Also on display will be items of memorabilia, including photographs and pieces of interest relating to Ironville and the surrounding localities. Why not come and join in, chill out, have a laugh?”
All the proceeds from the day’s event will go towards the church decorating fund. For further information please contact Barbara Bacon on 01773 605869.
