A SUCCESFUL day of coffee, cakes and raffles was enjoyed by the staff of Heanor’s Market Cafe on Friday.

Owners raised more than £600 from a charity day in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Care charity as part of the annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning Event.

Punters enjoyed a selection of home-made cakes made by the town centre cafe’s regular customers to raise cash for the charity.

Others took part in a tombola and raffle with prizes ranging from a Mars bar through to food processors and designer wallets, all donated by local traders.

Co-owner of the Market Street based Cafe, Seamus Doyle, 38, of North Street in Langley Mill, said: “It went brilliantly, we raised £665 and we are still counting the money.

“We wanted to take part in the big coffee morning because we thought this would be right up our street.”
