Church raises cash for youth project

RIPLEY Methodist Church has held a fundraising evening which made £500.

Derbyshire Police Male Voice Choir attended the event at Wood Street Church for free.

The choir was conducted by Christina Powell and the pianists was Anne Allen and Louise Cumpstone.

During the evening, a raffle was held to help swell funds, with the church saying a big thank you to all the shops that donated prizes.

The helpers who served refreshments at the event were also thanks for their efforts.

The money will go towards fitting out the Methodist church’s upstairs room. It is currently a shell and the aim is to turn it into somewhere for the young people at the church to hold their meetings, said a spokesman.
