A FUNDRAISING family hits on a novel money-making scheme in a new comedy being presented in Alfreton.
In the play the charity champs aim to raise thousands of pounds for a spire restoration project at their ancient parish church – but if their secret gets out, it could land them on the wrong side of the law.
Mum, dad and children, and even the 83-year-old gran are involved in the venture, in the three-act play Thick as Thieves.
But the scheme is put in jeopardy when three callers pose a threat to their plans.
Desperate situations call for desperate measures, as comedy mixes with farce in a tale of mistaken identities, family loyalties and lots of laughs.
Thick as Thieves is being presented by the drama group at Alfreton Wesley Church on Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16, at 7pm.
Admission is free, but there will be a charity collection.
