Chocolate factory workers are given food tips

STAFF from Derbyshire County Council have taken a Love Food, Hate Waste roadshow to Thorntons in Somercote.

The exhibition was aimed at teaching staff how to save money on their food bills at home and there were also tips on recycling and composting.

It coincided with the introduction of the Somercotes chocolate-maker’s new recycling scheme to improve its own recycling and reduce the rubbish it sends to landfill.

Thorntons workers discovered how they could save up to £50 a month at home by planning shopping and menus, practising portion control and cooking with leftovers.
