Child of Year winners pick up their prizes

THE winners of the Ripley and Heanor News’ Child of the Year 2011 competition have picked up their prizes this week.

Our three beautiful children and their parents popped along to our office in Grosvenor Road to collect their large black and white framed prints taken when they had their pictures done for the event.

The families were bowled over with their prizes, which they say will take pride of place in their homes.

Keavy Wood, from Chestnut Road, Langley Mill, won the nought to 12 months category.

Dylan Charlton, of Cromford Road, Langley Mill, was the winner in the 13 to 24 months section and Kennley Jane Hague, of Bolton Close, Langley Mill, was the winner in the 25 to 36 months section.

They were crowned the 2011 winners after polling the most votes among readers after, beating dozens of other youngsters to the titles.

Our Child of the Year competition is an annual event and is always hugely popular. Our winners’ parents were all bowled over when they were informed they had won.

Ripley and Heanor News editor Julie Crouch said: “It never ceases to amaze me how lovely all our entrants in the competition are. If I had to chose the winners I would struggle so I’m glad they are chosen by our readers.

“It was my pleasure to meet our three Child of the Year youngsters and their families this week.

“They deserve their titles and their winning prints will be something for their families to cherish.
