Young footballers from Aldercar are set to take on police in a charity match to help raise money for a young boy to have an operation which could help him walk normally.

The Aldercar youth football team will go head to head with Derbyshire police in the match to raise funds for Theo Hunt, four, who has cerebral palsy, and needs a £50,000 operation to help him walk.

The event was organised by community-minded Daniel Waites, who first heard of Theo’s plight through a colleague at Asda in Langley Mill.

Daniel, 20, said he took an immediate interest in Theo’s story.

He said: “Theo’s story really tugged at my heart strings. I want to do anything I can to help.”

The match kicks off at 2.30pm on Sunday, September 28, at Heanor Town FC’s ground on
Mayfield Avenue.
