A Heanor couple who first set eyes on each other outside the town’s Woolworths in 1948 were set to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary today, March 21.
Former electrician and Courtaulds employee Peter Snow, now 83, married sweetheart Winifred, now 81, in 1953 and took her on a honeymoon to London.
The coupleshared a love of ballroom dancing and spent many an evening at IR Morley’s dances.
They went on to have two children, Susan-Mary and Barbara. They also have four grandchildren and a great grandson. On the secret of a happy marriage John said: “You’ve got to have love first of all, otherwise you might as well not bother - the other thing is trust.”
