Car fires

Firefighters were called to three car fires in Amber Valley over the weekend.

The first happened at 9am on Saturday when firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled a blazing van on King Street in Alfreton. Hose reel jets were used to quell the flames and crews left the scene at 9.20.

On the same day at 9.45pm, crews from Belper were called to a burning 4x4 on Park Hall Road in Denby. The Range Rover had been stolen from Booth Street, in Ripley, sometime between 8pm and 9.55pm, while the owner was in the Ice nightclub.

Firefighters were called out a third time at 2.30am on Sunday when smoke began issuing from the dashboard of a car on Butterley Hill, outside Ripley.

A Co2 extinguisher was used to put out the fire and crews left the scene 3.15am.
