Staff at a Somercotes salon were tickled pink when they got involved in a breast cancer fundraiser.

Stylists and beauticians at Hair & Beauty at Slimming World, based on Clover Nook Road, got into the spirit of Breast Cancer Campaign’s Wear It Pink day on Friday, October 26 by dressing in pink and decorating the salon.

They served pink champagne and marshmallows as well as collecting donations from customers and holding a pink-themed raffle which raised £500.

Salon manager Victoria Hallam, who joined the team in July, said: “So many of our clients are women and we know that breast cancer touches so many people, so Wear It Pink is a fundraiser that’s close to all of our hearts. It’s been fantastic to see the team come together for such a great cause and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed the day.

“The raffle in particular has been a huge fundraiser because we’ve been able to offer some really popular prizes. We’re hoping we might even make it an annual event.”

Hair & Beauty is based on the site of Slimming World’s head office, but is open to the public. Staff at Slimming World also joined in with the day by putting on something pink and taking part in fundraising events.
