Call for information on fallen soldiers

A memorial for soldiers who died in World War One and Two is to be rededicated at a ceremony on Thursday, November 7.

The plaque containing the names of 14 soldiers resided in St Mary’s Mission, on Ripley Road, which is currently for sale.

Now the Bullbridge and Sawmills Area Civic Society (BASACS) is to install the item at Sawmills Village Hall.

Light refreshments will be served and a raffle held at the event – with proceeds to the Royal British Legion.

BASACS also hopes to learn more about the people on the memorial at the event.

The names are from World War One: H. Boden; E. Boden; A.C. Hinton; J. Murphy; F. Rodgers; H. Rodgers; J. Rodgers; C. Wain and J. White.

From World War Two: F. Hall; A. Jackson; C. Ray; J. Smith and C. Wade.

If you have any information on any of these men call secretary Gill Hirst on 01773856178 or email basacs@live.com.
