Union gives vote of no confidence against chief executive

A public sector union has issued a vote of no confidence to a top boss of EMAS after he did not offer supporting evidence for proposals to close ambulance stations in Derbyshire - including Ripley’s.

GMB has written to the chairman of the board stating its position against chief executive Phil Milligan because of “the way he is leading the current consultation” on ambulance station closures. Mr Milligan did not respond to a series of questions put to him about the viability of shutting all but two of Derbyshire’s 16 stations and replacing them with 13 ‘hubs’ across the East Midlands . Regional organiser for the union Colin Todd said: “GMB feel the consultation is a sham and a tick box exercise”
