A RIPLEY book shop played host to a top Peak District thriller writer at the weekend.

Stephen Booth, author of the Cooper and Fry series, signed copies of his latest crime novel, The Devil’s Edge, at the Book Boutique.

The bestselling writer hardly had a chance to sit down before he was busy with fans. Owner Caroline Evans said: “We’ve not been that busy! He has such a following - he didn’t even make it to the table. He wasn’t rushing anybody and for the first hour he didn’t stop - it was constant! We’ve had enquiries about him from customers so we contacted him via twitter and asked him if he would consider a signing. He’s really nice guy and definitely the biggest name we have ever had.”

Caroline added that there are still a limited number of signed copies in the store and, although she counts herself as a fan, admits that “my mum’s addicted to them!”
