Sainsbury’s marks 20 shopping years

Sainsbury’s in Ripley has celebrated it’s 20th birthday with a party for staff at Heanor Leisure Centre.

More than 20 people have worked at the store since the very beginning and have seen many changes, including two extensions and the addition of a petrol station. Store manager Keith Morton said: “We’re delighted to reach this milestone and would like to thank all our customers for their support over the last 20 years.

“It’s a really great time for us to reward colleagues that have worked so hard over the years and over 120 of us celebrated with a party.”

The store originally opened in October 1992 and there are currently 307 people working there.
