New owners at the Vaults

A COUPLE from Belper are planning to re-launch the former Imperial Vaults in King Street as a bistro next month, after a complete overhaul.

Ali Nadin, 42, and Perry Nadin, 46, are currently revamping the venue after it was closed by pub giant Greene King in March.

The pair, who already run Nourish Catering - supplying blue chip firms and the education sector - are also hoping to incorporate a chef’s larder and al-fresco dining, as well as running cookery classes.

Menus are being put together by Perry, who has worked as an executive chef in top restaurants, including one run by celebrity chef Marco Pierre White. Perry also ran his own eaterie in Norfolk.

The new venue will be called Nourish at 44 and will also incorporate a bar, which will be open at night.

Ali said: “We have been looking to take over somewhere for about two years but none of the premises were big enough for what we wanted to do.

“When this place became available, we jumped at the chance because of the outside space and the beautiful internal features.

“We are well aware everyone is strapped for cash and we will be offering menus from a reasonable price - we will offering three courses from £15.

“We are hoping people will find it a relaxed, informal and friendly venue and we will also be open in the evenings.

“Another thing that will hopefully help is that we live in Belper and are passionate about the town and using local suppliers whenever we can.”

The pair are currently restoring the property to its original glory, with Perry taking on much of the labour and remodelling work himself.

He said: “We will be training chefs and employing some bar staff, but a lot of this project we have done ourselves from the very beginning and combined our skills to make it happen.”

It is believed the town centre the building was previously home to a butchers before it became a pub.
