A newly-opened trade store for in Alfreton is urging charities to get in touch as it has begun seeking out worthy causes to support.
Screwfix officially opened its new store, on Wimsey Way, opened from February 19 with a successful launch weekend as part of the company’s UK expansion including 60 new stores in 2014 and a further 50 planned in 2015.
Alfreton store manager Linda Lee said: “We chose to open a new store in Alfreton because it’s a growing town with a great trade presence. Many of our customers already shopped with us at our Nottingham and Mansfield stores and are delighted to see us here, as they no longer have to travel so far.”
As part of its expansion, the company is looking to become involved with charities through its own registered charity arm The Screwfix Foundation which supports local causes and community projects with donations for fixing, repairing or maintaining buildings.
Peter Bradbury, Director of Finance for Ashgate Hospice was presented with £1,000 as part of the Alfreton store launch celebrations and the money will go towards installing bathroom facilities.
Screwfix staff get directly involved in helping community projects and host charity fundraising events.
