Mcdonald’s restaurant to open in Langley Mill
UNANIMOUS approval was given to a plan for a fast food outlet on the site of an old second hand car dealership in Langley Mill on Monday.
Councillors on Amber Valley Borough Council’s planning committee gave the go-ahead to a Mcdonald’s restaurant at the site of the former CJ Car Sales on Station Road.
The development could create around 65 jobs in Langley Mill
The restaurant will have 85 seats and will include a drive-through and take away service.
Planning committee member Cllr Alan Cox said he was glad to see members of the public turn out in support of the development at Monday night’s planning committee meeting.
He said: “We had five individuals from Langley Mill, including from the parish council, come along to support it. It’s lovely to see people turn up at a meeting in support of an application for a change.”
Mcdonalds say the restaurant will have a ‘bright, lively, modern and contemporary feel’.
It says it will employ local contractors to maintain the landscaped areas of the site.
The plan was turned down when it was first submitted in January 2011, after Derbyshire County Council and the Environment Agency objected.
Now work is expected to start by the end of the year.
