Staff at an Blockbuster stores in Ripley and Alfreton are likely to keep their jobs — despite the firm having gone into administration.

The firm called in administrators Deloitte last week and on Saturday it announced that 129 stores will close.

But all of its Derbyshire stores, including those on Grosvenor Road, Ripley , and High Street, Alfreton, have been spared the chop for the time being.

However the stores are still not permanently safe as Deloitte says it will continue to ‘review the profitability of the store portfolio’. “Announcements of further closures may be made in coming weeks,” a spokesman said.
