YOUNG people found out about career opportunities with Derbyshire County Council at the launch of its drive to recruit 500 apprentices last week.

The county council is creating 700 apprenticeships over the next four years – 500 within the authority and 200 in private industry.

Young people, including Stephanie Guildford, 18, and Charlotte Bell, 17, from Belper, got the chance to speak to managers about the apprenticeship positions on offer and are offered advice on how to apply. Positions are now available in road working, school catering, business administration and customer service. For more visit: www.chesterfield.ac.uk/dcc-apprenticeships
