Volunteers are being sought to tackle a 90ft abseil for a local young person’s charity in April.

Bank Holiday Monday, on April 21, will see willing folk dangling off Miller’s Dale bridge in the Peak District in order to raise money for Swanwick based Valley CIDS.

The independent Christian charity helps children, young people and families through out-reach work in schools and the wider community.

The event, titled Face your Fears, is open for anyone above the age of ten to join.

There is a registration fee of £15, and people are being asked to raise £150 to do the abseil. However, if participants raise more than £250, the registration fee will be refunded.

You can book your place by downloading the form on the website –, or by popping into one of its 22 Lighthouse Charity Shops, such as at Oxford Street, Ripley, and picking up a form.
