A SMALLEY publisher is helping to raise money for a cancer charity through the sale of an autobiography.
Jane Bettany, 48, from Main Road in the village, is following in the tradition of donating £1 from every sale of the Log Cabin Lady to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The anonymous autobiography, first published in 1922 and being reissued by Jane’s company, Dormouse Press, tells the story of a woman who leaves behind her life on the American frontier to live in England. The preface to the book was written by magazine editor, Marie Mattingly Meloney, who raised thousands to help Marie Curie’s research herself in the 1920s. Publisher Jane said: “We just wanted to continue this tradition of fundraising and the book.”
Jane is hoping to raise £3,000 for the charity. The Log Cabin Lady is available from all good book shops.
