VOLUNTEERS are being sought to visit people in their homes in a bid to reduce social isolation in Amber Valley.
The ‘befrienders’ would visit people and stop for a chat as part of the scheme organised by Amber Valley Council for Voluntary Services. No formal skills or qualifications are required for the roles.
A spokesman said: “It would be beneficial if volunteers had good listening skills and compassion. All volunteers must complete an eight-hour course that takes place over four weeks in two-hour slots. Ongoing support and supervision is available.”
