MEMBERS of the Amber Valley Against Incinerators (Avain) action group are set to meet at Riddings Community Centre, on Saturday, July 2, at 10.30am.
The group was founded last year to protest against Warwick Energy’s bid to build an £8m waste-to-energy gasification incinerator on the Pye Bridge Industrial Estate, in Somercotes.
The Environment Agency has announced its draft decision to issue a permit for the operation, but campaigners say they will fight on.
Avain collected 1,400 names on a petition against the bid as campaigners are concerned about the potential effects of pollution. Warwick Energy has said emission levels are controlled by the Environment Agency.
